On May 14, 2023, at approximately 1:31 p.m., deputies from the Central Station responded to a reported shooting in the 22200 block of Lark Street in Grand Terrace, California. Upon arrival, they detained 68-year-old resident Karen Welsher. Inside the home, deputies discovered her husband, 68-year-old Scott Welsher, suffering from gunshot wounds; he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Detectives from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Specialized Investigations Division-Homicide Detail took over the investigation. They arrested Karen Welsher on suspicion of murder under California Penal Code 187. Following her arrest, she was transported to a hospital for evaluation before being booked into custody.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting is ongoing. Authorities have not released further details about a possible motive or the events leading up to the incident.
