On August 25, 2023, Mario Palacios, a 52-year-old resident of North Hollywood, California, was fatally shot in a drive-by incident. The shooting occurred around 3:25 p.m. in the 6100 block of Carpenter Avenue, near Palacios's home. According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), Palacios was walking south on Carpenter Avenue when a vehicle approached, and a single shot was fired from inside, striking him in the chest.
