On August 30, 2023, Angela Cummings, a 40-year-old resident of Richmond, California, was fatally shot in Oakland. The incident occurred in the parking lot of an event center on Linden Street, where Cummings was attending a memorial service for 22-year-old Tahmon Wilson, who had been fatally shot by Martinez police earlier that month. As attendees gathered in the parking lot, at least one gunman opened fire, striking Cummings in the head and causing fatal injuries.
