On September 2, 2023, the body of 49-year-old Anthony Quinn Ussery was discovered beneath the Culver Boulevard bridge in Playa del Rey, California. Authorities found him inside a "shed-like" structure located within the Ballona Creek flood control channel. Responding to a call around 10:40 a.m., first responders, including lifeguards, fire personnel, and a swift water rescue team, retrieved his body from the confined space.
