Faustino Mancilla, a 24-year-old Hispanic/Latino man, was shot and killed on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, during a gathering at a residence in southwest Fresno. Officers were dispatched at about 6:45 p.m. to the area of Poppy and California avenues, where they found Mancilla suffering from a gunshot wound; despite life-saving efforts by paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives learned he had been involved in an argument at the gathering just before shots were fired.
The killing marked Fresno’s 17th homicide of 2025 at that point.
Investigators said they were working to determine a motive and identify the person responsible.
