On the evening of October 8, 2023, 44-year-old Michael Mello Sr. was fatally shot near the intersection of Plymouth Road and Kelley Drive in Stockton, California. Officers responding to reports of a shooting around 7:40 p.m. found Mello with a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene. A 46-year-old woman also suffered gunshot injuries but survived.
