On November 1, 2023, at approximately 7:30 a.m., Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 3100 block of West Pico Boulevard in the Harvard Heights area of Los Angeles. Upon arrival, they discovered 35-year-old Deshawan Greenfield, who was experiencing homelessness, suffering from a gunshot wound. Tragically, Greenfield was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner later confirmed Greenfield's identity and noted that he had sustained a shotgun wound to the arm.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and authorities have not released any suspect descriptions. The Los Angeles Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding Greenfield's death and urges anyone with information to contact them at 877-LAPD-247.
In the wake of this tragic incident, a GoFundMe campaign was established by Greenfield's family to assist with funeral expenses and to honor his memory.
