On November 6, 2023, at approximately 12:07 p.m., retired Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) Sergeant Gregory Hovland, aged 67, was found deceased at his residence in Quartz Hill, California. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner determined the cause of death to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest, ruling it a suicide.
