On November 21, 2023, at approximately 6:19 a.m., deputies from the Apple Valley Police Department responded to reports of suspicious activity at a residence in the 14400 block of Navajo Road. Witnesses reported seeing a man firing a gun into a vehicle parked in front of the residence. Upon arrival, deputies detained 35-year-old Michael Deandre Harris as he exited the residence.
Inside the vehicle, they discovered 30-year-old Ashly Sinor, a resident of Hesperia, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators from the Sheriff's Specialized Investigations Division, Homicide Detail, took over the case. Their investigation revealed that Harris and Sinor were in a romantic relationship and that Harris had shot Sinor while she was seated in the vehicle that morning. Harris was arrested and booked for murder at the High Desert Detention Center.
