Adriana Gonzales, a 21-year-old Hispanic woman known to her family as “Nini,” was remembered as a ray of light who could brighten anyone’s day. Her mother, Nicole Ruggeri, said she was “everything,” and her sister, Katrina, described her as the sunshine for those she met. A recent graduate of Crestview Charter High School in Fresno, California, Adriana had found her calling and aspired to become a pediatric nurse because of her deep love for children.
Her family said she was at a point in her life where she was truly finding herself.
On the morning of Saturday, November 25, 2023, Adriana’s life was cut short. Around 11:30 a.m., she was in the parking lot of Wayne’s Liquor near California Avenue and Fresno Street when a confrontation occurred. According to Fresno police, Adriana arrived in a vehicle and got into a physical altercation with the occupants of another car. During the fight, someone in the other vehicle shot her multiple times in the upper body. As the suspects sped away from the scene, their car ran over Adriana as she lay on the ground. First responders rushed her to a hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries.
Investigators quickly determined the killing was not gang-related but rather the result of an interpersonal conflict. By February 2024, detectives had identified three people they believed were involved. They issued murder warrants for 23-year-old Devin Miliki Senegal and 26-year-old Aaminah Norman-Taquee. A third woman, 29-year-old Sabrina Agosto-Ramirez, was identified as an accessory who allegedly helped the primary suspects after the murder.
The first major break in the case came nearly a year later. In early November 2024, police in Las Vegas, Nevada, arrested Devin Senegal. The search for the second murder suspect continued until June 2025, when authorities took Aaminah Norman-Taquee into custody.
Both Senegal and Norman-Taquee were charged with the murder of Adriana Gonzales and have pleaded not guilty. The case has since moved into court proceedings. During a hearing, a Fresno police detective testified that Senegal was seen handing a handgun to someone inside the suspect vehicle just before the shooting. Prosecutors presented surveillance footage of the incident, which showed the chaotic moments leading to Adriana’s death. As of January 2026, the court proceedings against both defendants were ongoing.
