On December 11, 2023, at approximately 11:55 p.m., deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department responded to reports of gunshots near the intersection of Bernardino Avenue and Pioneer Boulevard in Whittier, California. Upon arrival, they discovered James Garcia, a 44-year-old resident of Hacienda Heights, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in a driveway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
