On January 25, 2024, James Murphy, a 66-year-old resident of Garberville, California, was found deceased in the parking lot of a Walmart in Rohnert Park. At approximately 6:30 p.m., a passerby reported hearing a noise resembling a gunshot and discovered Murphy lying on the ground with a single gunshot wound to his chest.
