On February 1, 2024, the Colusa County Sheriff's Office responded to a welfare check request at a residence on Ponderosa Lane in Stonyford, California. Upon arrival around 6:40 p.m., deputies, with assistance from the reporting party, entered the home and discovered the bodies of 64-year-old James Nance and 49-year-old Georgiann Espinoza.
