On April 5, 2024, at approximately 10:54 PM, Clearlake Police Department officers responded to reports of multiple gunshots in the 15300 block of Pacific Avenue. While en route, they were informed that a female gunshot victim was being transported to Adventist Health Clear Lake Hospital by an involved party. The victim, identified as 45-year-old Elizabeth Williams of Clearlake, succumbed to her injuries despite life-saving efforts by hospital staff.
Investigations revealed that Williams was driving near Pacific Avenue and Konocti View Road when another vehicle approached. An occupant of this vehicle fired at Williams' car, striking her once, before fleeing the scene. Based on evidence and witness statements, detectives identified 21-year-old Nathaniel Ladre Hueners of Lakeport as a suspect.
On April 8, 2024, around 1:00 AM, Lakeport Police officers responded to a noise complaint at a local hotel. During their investigation, they encountered Hueners and discovered a firearm believed to be connected to him. Hueners was arrested and booked into the Lake County Jail on charges including murder, assault with a firearm, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and violation of post-release community supervision.
Later in April 2024, Hueners appeared in court and entered a not-guilty plea to the charges related to the drive-by shooting of Elizabeth Williams. Reports indicate that Williams was the mother of one of Hueners' friends, suggesting a possible personal connection between the victim and the suspect.
