On May 9, 2024, at approximately 3:10 p.m., deputies from the Victorville Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at a residence in the 16300 block of Orick Avenue in Victorville, California. Upon arrival, they discovered 37-year-old Stephanie Santacruz suffering from a gunshot wound; she was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department's Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail assumed responsibility for the

In the wake of her tragic death, Stephanie's family initiated a GoFundMe campaign to cover funeral expenses, highlighting her role as a devoted mother of four children and a grandmother. The campaign underscores her caring nature and the profound loss felt by her loved ones.
Prior to her death, public records indicate that Stephanie had encounters with law enforcement. In December 2022, she was arrested in Riverside County for a bench warrant related to a misdemeanor charge. Additionally, she faced charges in San Bernardino County, including possession of a controlled substance and vehicle theft, with arrests recorded between 2016 and 2023.
Despite these past legal issues, Stephanie's family remembers her as a loving individual who ensured those around her felt protected and cherished. Her untimely passing has left a significant void in their lives, and they continue to seek justice for her murder.
