On June 30, 2024, at approximately 1:15 p.m., Palm Springs police responded to reports of gunshots near the intersection of North Indian Canyon Drive and Garnet Avenue in North Palm Springs, California. Upon arrival, officers discovered two men deceased inside a white Toyota sedan, both having suffered fatal gunshot wounds. The victims were later identified as 37-year-old Glenford Gatewood-Quilter of Loma Linda and 27-year-old Jacob Lombardino of Hesperia.
Shortly thereafter, authorities located a third individual beneath the Indian Canyon Drive overpass near Interstate 10, dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. This person was identified as 34-year-old Donta Tinnin of Victorville. Investigators determined that Tinnin had shot Gatewood-Quilter and Lombardino while they were seated in the vehicle before fleeing the scene and taking his own life near the freeway overpass.
The Palm Springs Police Department classified the incident as a murder-suicide, concluding that there were no outstanding suspects. The motive behind Tinnin's actions remains unclear, and authorities have not disclosed any further details regarding the relationships between the individuals involved or the circumstances leading up to the tragic event.
