On July 6, 2024, at approximately 8:50 p.m., Downey police officers responded to reports of gunfire near the Rio San Gabriel Riverbed and the Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway. Upon arrival, they discovered the bodies of three men, all in their 30s, who had suffered fatal gunshot wounds. The area was identified as a homeless encampment where the victims had been residing.
