On July 13, 2024, 27-year-old Oakland rapper Alliauna Green, known professionally as Tan DaGod, was fatally shot during a promotional event at Glamor Beauty Supply on Telegraph Avenue in Oakland, California. The incident occurred around 5 p.m., shortly after Green had concluded a meet-and-greet session with fans. Witnesses reported that an individual approached the event and opened fire, striking Green and injuring another person.
Green was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
In the days following the shooting, the Oakland Police Department identified and arrested 30-year-old Dominic Gates, also known by his rap alias BNC4Nero, in connection with Green's death. Gates was charged with murder, assault with a firearm, and related offenses. He has a prior felony conviction for pimping a minor and was out on his own recognizance at the time of the shooting, facing charges for failing to register as a sex offender.
Subsequently, a second suspect, 32-year-old Richard James Romano, was arrested and charged with murder for his alleged involvement in the shooting. Authorities have not publicly disclosed a motive for the attack, but friends and witnesses believe that Green was deliberately targeted. The investigation remains ongoing as the community mourns the loss of a promising artist whose life was tragically cut short.
