On July 20, 2024, at approximately 12:40 a.m., 15-year-old Sergio Villa was fatally shot during a street takeover event near the intersection of 54th Street and Western Avenue in South Los Angeles.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), Villa and another 15-year-old boy were attending the street takeover when they witnessed an individual being robbed. As the suspects fled towards a nearby vehicle, they fired multiple gunshots, striking both teenagers.
The victims managed to transport themselves to a nearby hospital, where Villa succumbed to his injuries, while the other boy was listed in stable condition.
The suspects immediately fled the scene in their vehicle, and as of now, no arrests have been made. The LAPD has not released detailed descriptions of the suspects or their vehicle. Investigators are actively seeking information from the public to identify and apprehend those responsible for this crime.
