On July 28, 2024, at approximately 9:18 p.m., deputies from the Victorville Station responded to a disturbance at a residence in the 12400 block of San Jacinto Drive in Victorville, California. Upon arrival, they discovered that a verbal argument among family members had escalated into a physical altercation. During this dispute, two individuals, identified as 35-year-old Cody McFann of Hesperia and 39-year-old Melissa Quintero of Victorville, arrived at the scene.
A confrontation ensued between the newcomers and 50-year-old Victorville resident, Donnie Griffin. Griffin then armed himself with a firearm, pursued McFann and Quintero, and fatally shot both victims. They were pronounced deceased at the scene.
Following the incident, Griffin fled to Las Vegas, Nevada. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, he was apprehended by homicide detectives in collaboration with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police and the U.S. Marshal’s Office. Griffin was booked into a Las Vegas jail and is awaiting extradition to California to face charges related to the double homicide.
The tragic deaths of McFann and Quintero have left their families and the community in mourning. McFann is survived by his four daughters: Farrah, Cerrinah, Neveah, and Jessie McFann, as well as his brother Bobby McFann and four sisters. Quintero leaves behind six children, ranging in age from 5 to 20 years old. Her father, Don Lanoix, expressed his grief and confusion over the loss, stating that he did not know the suspect or why his daughter went to the home. The family has set up a GoFundMe to raise money for funeral expenses.
