On October 13, 1999, Jesse Esparza, a 27-year-old Hispanic male, was tragically shot and killed at his residence in the Spring Valley Lake community of Victorville, California. At the time, he was at home caring for his three young children. The incident occurred when someone knocked on his door; upon answering, Jesse was fatally shot. His children were present during this horrifying event, adding a deeply traumatic dimension to the tragedy.
