On September 22, 2024, Victor Alvarez, a 39-year-old resident of Carson, California, was fatally shot in the unincorporated area of Torrance near Carson. Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Carson Station responded to reports of a shooting around 3:20 p.m. in the 1200 block of West Sepulveda Boulevard, just east of Normandie Avenue. Upon arrival, they found Alvarez with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
