In the heart of Memphis, Tennessee, a dispute over a small sum of money tragically escalated, leading to the death of 42-year-old Myrico Deshun Carr on January 2, 2024. The Black / African American man was fatally shot in an incident that unfolded in the Hyde Park neighborhood. The chain of events reportedly began when Cornelius Walker, also 42, went to a residence on Staten Avenue to collect a $50 debt from Carr.
