On May 25, 2024, 18-year-old Lily Basil from Franklin, Tennessee, was fatally shot just a day after her high school graduation. The incident occurred when she was struck in the right shoulder by a bullet from a rifle. Despite being rushed to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
