In the summer of 2024, a wave of grief washed over a South Memphis community following the violent death of 15-year-old Victor Cooper. On the night of Friday, July 5, 2024, the young man was fatally shot at the intersection of South Third Street and Trigg Avenue. First responders rushed him to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital, but his injuries proved too severe, and he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
