In the North Memphis neighborhood of New Chicago, a domestic dispute on a Tuesday afternoon tragically escalated, leading to the death of Ardis Reese, a 47-year-old man. On October 15, 2024, Reese was found shot to death inside his residence on North Bellevue Boulevard, leaving family and friends in a state of shock and disbelief over the sudden and violent loss.
The events that culminated in Reese's death reportedly began earlier in the day with a physical altercation between him and a
22-year-old woman named Brianna Lee. Following this incident, Lee alleged that Reese had assaulted her, resulting in her needing hospital treatment. After her release, Lee is said to have connected with friends through social media, who then came to her house armed with guns. It was noted that the situation was further complicated by the fact that Lee's mother shared a child with Reese, weaving a tangled web of relationships into the fabric of the tragedy.
Witnesses reported seeing Lee walking toward Reese's home with a 'large group of males' just before the fatal shots were fired. According to Lee's account to investigators, once the group had assembled, they went to Reese's house, which was only a few streets away. When no one answered their knock, they broke down the door. At that point, her friends allegedly opened fire inside the home. After the gunfire ceased, Lee stated that she fled back to her own house.
Brianna Lee was subsequently arrested in connection with the incident. She now faces serious charges, including facilitation of first-degree murder, as the investigation into the deadly shooting continues.
