On April 23, 2023, at approximately 7:07 a.m., Pennsylvania State Police discovered the body of 54-year-old Miguel Vazquez-Ruiz along the southbound shoulder of U.S. Route 222 near mile marker 48.6 in Brecknock Township, Lancaster County. The Lancaster County Coroner's Office determined that Vazquez-Ruiz, a resident of Baltimore, Maryland, had died from multiple gunshot wounds, ruling his death a homicide.
