On the night of May 24, 2023, 15-year-old Randy Mills, a student at Roxborough High School in Philadelphia, was fatally shot while riding a SEPTA Route 23 bus along Germantown Avenue. The incident occurred around 10:50 p.m. According to surveillance footage, a male suspect wearing a hooded sweatshirt, jacket, and a mask boarded the bus and engaged in a verbal altercation with Mills.
