In the early morning hours of Wednesday, October 4, 2023, the vibrant energy of Philadelphia's Chinatown was shattered by a single gunshot that would ultimately claim the life of 38-year-old John Hershock, a well-known local DJ. A White male, Hershock was discovered in a narrow alleyway behind the Tango nightclub on Appletree Street at approximately 3:12 a.m. by responding Philadelphia Police officers. He was suffering from a critical gunshot wound to the head.
