In the afternoon of May 17, 2024, just days before he would have celebrated his 17th birthday, Darell S. McCurry, a 16-year-old Black male, was fatally shot in Collingdale, Pennsylvania. The incident occurred around 4:15 p.m. on the 100 block of Lafayette Avenue. Darell sustained a gunshot wound to his torso and was rushed to Crozer-Chester Medical Center, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. Another teenager was also wounded in the shooting, suffering a gunshot to the foot.
