On the evening of September 26, 2024, a burst of violence shattered the tranquility of Collingdale Park, leaving a young man's life extinguished. Naushad Khan, a 26-year-old male, was fatally shot near Jackson and Hibberd Avenues in the Delaware County park. Emergency responders rushed to the scene around 11:15 p.m., but their efforts were in vain; Khan was pronounced dead from his injuries.
The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to a suspect.
Authorities identified 22-year-old Zafeer Sabree Wright of Upper Darby as the individual they believed to be responsible for Khan's death. A warrant was issued for Wright's arrest, and he was charged with first- and third-degree murder, along with other related offenses. The search for Wright did not last long, as he surrendered to law enforcement on October 4, 2024. Following his surrender, Wright was arraigned and, after being denied bail, was incarcerated at the George W. Hill Correctional Facility.
While an arrest has been made, the motive behind the fatal shooting of Naushad Khan, who was a resident of Wilmington, Delaware, remains under investigation.
