On June 22, 2024, Pennsylvania State Police responded to reports of gunfire in the 3700 block of Mountain Shadow Drive in Greene Township, Franklin County. Upon arrival, troopers discovered a red van stationary in the middle of the street, occupied by 33-year-old Lance Mitchell Riely of Saint Thomas. Riely had sustained a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation revealed that prior to the shooting, Riely had engaged in a verbal altercation with 30-year-old Anthony Henderson. Surveillance footage showed Riely pulling into Henderson's driveway, followed by Henderson allegedly pointing a firearm at Riely's vehicle as he attempted to leave. Two bullet holes were later found in Riely's van, and he had suffered a gunshot wound to his right bicep, with the bullet entering his right side.
Henderson, who was present at a nearby residence with two juvenile females when police arrived, was taken into custody. A search of his home uncovered a Taurus revolver with two missing bullets, along with other firearms, a substantial amount of cash, marijuana, pills, and cocaine. Due to a prior conviction in 2014, Henderson was prohibited from possessing firearms.
As a result, Henderson was charged with first-degree murder, third-degree murder, multiple firearms offenses, and various drug-related offenses. He is currently held in Franklin County Prison without bail. Authorities have stated that there is no ongoing threat to the public related to this incident.
