On July 2, 1977, 54-year-old Wilbur Brookens, a white male from Fayetteville, Pennsylvania, was fatally shot while attempting to assist at a cabin fire. The fire had been deliberately set by his neighbor, 33-year-old Gary Lee Rock. Brookens was shot in the chest and died from the gunshot wound.
