On January 14, 2023, Kevin Massey, a 41-year-old resident of Erwin, North Carolina, was found deceased on Price Street near U.S. 421. A passerby discovered his body around 6:05 p.m. after hearing a gunshot and notified authorities. Upon arrival, Erwin police officers found Massey with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
