On March 21, 2023, 35-year-old Victoria Oxendine of Saint Pauls, North Carolina, was fatally shot. The incident occurred around 5 p.m. near Chapel Street. After the shooting, Oxendine was transported by a private vehicle to the Saint Pauls Police Department. Emergency Medical Services responded and took her to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Authorities identified the suspect as 48-year-old Jackie Junior McNair, who was reportedly Oxendine's boyfriend. McNair had been released from prison approximately six months prior to the incident. Following the shooting, he was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. McNair was held without bond at the Robeson County Detention Center.
Oxendine was remembered as a lover of life, with passions for cooking and listening to music, particularly Toosii. She was deeply cherished by her family and friends. She is survived by her parents, Bobby G. and Charleen Thomas Oxendine, and three sisters, among other relatives and close friends. Her funeral services were held in Red Springs, North Carolina, and she was laid to rest at Oxendine Cemetery in Lumberton.
