On June 19, 2023, 18-year-old Doriane RaShawn McRae was fatally shot outside Biggs Park Mall in Lumberton, North Carolina. As McRae was leaving the mall with another individual, assailants waiting in the parking lot opened fire, striking him. Emergency responders transported McRae to UNC Health Southeastern, where he succumbed to his injuries. No other individuals were reported injured during the incident.
