On July 2, 2023, at approximately 7 a.m., Cary Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 200 block of Hampton Lee Court, near the MAA Hermitage apartments in Cary, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 30-year-old Eric Matthew Laird of Lacey, Washington, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite prompt medical attention, Laird succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Later that evening, authorities arrested 29-year-old Cary resident William Jameso
