On September 16, 2023, at approximately 3:48 a.m., Greensboro police responded to reports of a shooting in the 400 block of Rocky Knoll Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered 18-year-old Khasim Nur'i Burgess suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. A second victim, a 23-year-old male, arrived at the hospital via private vehicle with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
