On January 5, 1996, Mun Sim Song was found deceased in Moanalua Park. Mun Sim Song, a 24-year-old Asian / Pacific Islander woman known to people around her as “Debbie,” was found to have been shot. 
The night before, she had simply vanished from the rhythm of an ordinary work shift. She was reported missing from Han Mi Video, the place where she worked, after she did not come home.
Somewhere between the last time she was seen at her job and the moment she was found in the park, something went terribly wrong—an abrupt rupture in time that left only questions behind. 
What followed was not a swift, satisfying resolution but the long, aching quiet that comes with an unanswered homicide. The case is presented by the Honolulu Police Department as a cold case, a sign that whatever leads were once fresh have not been enough to name a killer with certainty. 
In the department's public case notice, no suspect is identified and no arrest, charge, trial, or conviction is described. Instead, the message is a plea across decades: if someone knows what happened—if they saw her leave, if they noticed a car, a face, a pattern, a threat—police still want that tip, still believe the missing detail could be the one that brings the story out of the dark.
