On February 3, 2024, at approximately 8:30 p.m., deputies from the Tyrrell County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of gunfire near the intersection of South Road Street and Railroad Street in Columbia, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 25-year-old Keshawn Spruill lying on the ground with a gunshot wound. Spruill was immediately transported toward ECU Health Chowan Hospital; however, he succumbed to his injuries en route.
