On March 4, 2024, at approximately 5:51 p.m., Winston-Salem police officers responded to reports of a possible shooting in the 900 block of Thurmond Street. Upon arrival, they discovered evidence of a shooting but found no victims at the scene.

Shortly thereafter, 24-year-old Taekwan Semaja Franklin arrived at a local hospital suffering from a gunshot wound. Investigators determined that Franklin had been shot on Thurmond Street. Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead at the h ...
