On March 4, 2024, at approximately 5:51 p.m., Winston-Salem police officers responded to reports of a possible shooting in the 900 block of Thurmond Street. Upon arrival, they discovered evidence of a shooting but found no victims at the scene.
Shortly thereafter, 24-year-old Taekwan Semaja Franklin arrived at a local hospital suffering from a gunshot wound. Investigators determined that Franklin had been shot on Thurmond Street.
Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
As of now, the investigation into Franklin's death remains active and ongoing. Authorities have not released any information regarding potential suspects or arrests related to the case. The Winston-Salem Police Department continues to seek information from the public to aid in their investigation.
