On April 20, 2024, 47-year-old Kenny Dean Locklear of Pembroke, North Carolina, was found deceased from a gunshot wound at a residence in the 2600 block of West McDuffie Crossing Road in Lumberton. Responding to reports of a shooting, Robeson County Sheriff's deputies discovered Locklear's body and promptly initiated a homicide investigation.
