On May 18, 2024, at approximately 6:00 p.m., deputies from the Caswell County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported shooting at a residence on Cherry Grove Road in Reidsville, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 37-year-old Danielle Marie Hines and one of her children deceased from gunshot wounds. Two other children present in the home sustained injuries; they were transported to a local hospital and are expected to recover.
The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Anthony Lamont Siler, was the boyfriend of Ms. Hines and the father of one of her children. After the incident, Siler fled the scene. Alamance County deputies located his vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on Rauhut Street in Burlington. During the stop, Siler fatally shot himself while still inside the vehicle, resulting in his death from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Ms. Hines began her career with the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction in December 2020, serving as a correctional officer at the Caswell County Correctional Center. She was known for her compassionate spirit and dedication to her family. Born on February 26, 1987, she is survived by her parents, William and Sharon Hines; her children, Jedidiah, Landon, Sophia, and Avanica; and her siblings, William and Brittany Hines.
