On September 7, 2024, Diondre Overton, a 26-year-old former Clemson University wide receiver, was fatally shot at a house party in Greensboro, North Carolina. Deputies from the Guilford County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a loud party and noise disturbance on Spring Mill Road around 2:30 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered Overton suffering from a gunshot wound; despite immediate medical attention, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
