In the spring of 2023, the life of 31-year-old James W. Huff IV, a male resident of Rochester, New York, was tragically cut short. On the night of April 23rd, as he was walking near the intersection of Webster and Parsells Avenues, he was struck by multiple gunshots in what authorities described as a drive-by shooting. Emergency services responded to the scene, and Huff was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Friends and family remembered him as a man with a compassionate and beautiful heart.
The Rochester Police Department immediately launched an investigation into the homicide. For several months, detectives worked to piece together the events of that fatal night, seeking to identify those responsible for the seemingly random act of violence. Authorities noted that Huff had no criminal history, and they could find no clear motive for the shooting, adding a layer of bewilderment to the grief felt by his loved ones and the community. Eighteen-year-old Kyelon Marbury and 16-year-old Al Oliver Jr. were formally charged with second-degree murder, reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a weapon, and possession of stolen property. Marbury had been previously charged with a murder that occurred in February 2023, while Oliver was facing a murder charge for a killing in August 2023.
