In the quiet evening hours of Sunday, May 7, 2023, the community of New Cassel was shaken by an act of violence that claimed the life of 26-year-old Quraan Williams. Williams, a male resident of Baldwin, was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the vicinity of 166 State Street at approximately 8:20 p.m. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene following a 911 call reporting shots fired.
