Do you know who murdered Kenneth? In the early hours of a Sunday morning, on March 13, 2011, the life of 46-year-old Kenneth Eatmon was tragically cut short in a parking lot in Hapeville, Georgia. A Black male, Eatmon was discovered deceased at approximately 12:45 A.M. in the rear parking area of a commercial property located at 1005 Virginia Avenue, not far from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
The cause of his death was determined to be gunshot wounds.
The initial investigation by Hapeville police, and later the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, uncovered a potential lead from a witness who reported seeing two Black males engaged in an argument outside of a truck that was attached to an empty trailer. This altercation is believed to be connected to the events that led to Eatmon's death. His body was found beside his own car after law enforcement responded to reports of shots being fired in the vicinity of Lang Avenue, near an airport hotel.
Despite the initial witness account, the investigation into the murder of Kenneth Eatmon has not led to any arrests or the public identification of any suspects. The case has since gone cold, and it is now listed as an unsolved homicide by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Authorities have continued to appeal to the public for any information that might shed new light on the circumstances surrounding the death of Kenneth Eatmon, a man from Columbus whose life ended violently in a Hapeville parking lot over a decade ago.
