In the early morning hours of April 17, 2023, a tragic discovery unfolded in the Wells-Goodfellow neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri. Around 2:00 a.m., residents in the area reported hearing the sound of gunshots, though no emergency calls were placed at that specific time. It was not until approximately 5:15 a.m. that police were alerted to a report of suspicious occupants inside a vehicle parked in the 2700 block of Semple Avenue.
Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers
found two men inside the car who had sustained fatal injuries. One of the victims was identified as 30-year-old Robert Cook, a male resident of St. Louis. He was discovered alongside 43-year-old Sterling Turner Jr., who had also been shot. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene, and homicide detectives from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department launched an investigation into the double shooting.
Despite the initial leads and the timeframe established by witness reports of gunfire, the case has faced significant challenges. As of late 2025, investigators have not publicly identified any suspects in connection with the murders of Cook and Turner. No arrests have been made, and the motive behind the violence remains unclear as the case continues to be handled by the department’s homicide division.
