In the summer of 2023, the community of Webb City, Missouri, was shaken by the loss of one of its own. Jacob A. Williams, a 37-year-old Caucasian male, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2023. A dedicated public servant, Williams was a Corporal with the Webb City Police Department, a role he had held since 2018. His commitment to his community was evident not only in his law enforcement career but also in his active involvement in programs like 'Shop with a Cop.'
The circumstances of his
death were investigated by the Joplin police, who responded to a call from a friend who discovered Williams. The Jasper County coroner subsequently ruled his death a suicide, resulting from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. There is no information to suggest any arrests or suspects in connection with his passing.
Jacob Williams was a man of many talents and deep commitments. Beyond his police work, he served as a Sergeant and Medic with the Missouri National Guard's HSC 935th ASB in Springfield. He was also a trained Emergency Medical Technician, serving several local ambulance services. His educational background included a degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Political Science from Missouri Southern State University, where he also graduated from the police academy in 2009. His dedication to his profession was recognized with a Life Saving Award from the Webb City Police Department. He is survived by his wife, mother, and brother.
