On August 30, 2023, at approximately 6:36 p.m., the Springfield Police Department responded to a reported road rage incident on the westbound offramp from Interstate 44 to Kansas Expressway. Upon arrival, officers discovered Michael D. Miller, a 39-year-old resident of Walnut Grove, Missouri, suffering from gunshot wounds. Miller was promptly transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
